Rugby Fever!

Rebels playing away in Brisbane?  Great excuse for a weekend away and to see another state capital city in Australia.

Staying in the Rendez-Vous Hotel just opposite Central Station was the perfect place from which to explore the city and surrounding areas.  We walked for miles and saw the City, South Bank, West End, Botanical Gardens, Riverside, Milton, Fortitude Valley and probably more I can't remember!  It's a great city, and the weather helped as it was 30 degrees - not bad for Autumn!

Suncorp Stadium is a great stadium - but don't be fooled when you hear the crowd chanting 'We Are Red' - it's pre-recorded!!!

Feeling a bit outnumbered in the 30,000 strong Queensland Reds stadium, we did our bit to support the Melbourne Rebels - and they put up a good fight, despite ultimately losing!

This weekend they played at home at AAMI Park, and it was great to have two 'Little Rebels' along!
Hearing Kieran saying 'Crouch, touch, pause....engage'........I reckon we may have a couple of players in the making!

Kat's brirthday weekend 2012

Another birthday already!!!!

I had a lovely birthday weekend, starting with dinner on the South Bank, followed by going to Shakespeare in the Park.  I can't believe that this is the fourth birthday that I have sat under the stars watching Shakespeare in the Botanical gardens.  Luckily this year it didn't rain - it was a really warm night, and a really funny play (A Midsummer Night's Dream (behind the scenes)) - perfect!

On the Saturday, I went for High Tea at the Langham - very posh indeed!  This wasn't a birthday treat, it was a hen do for a friend who's wedding we are going to this week in Daylesford, but it was still a nice thing to do on my birthday weekend!  Lots of cakes and chocolate indulgence, and lots of bubbles!

Bride-to-be at the chocolate indulgence table!!!

On my birthday I was spoilt with presents - especially by Darren!!!  Necklace and earrings from Tiffany's no less!!!  Really lovely gifts from home and away - I must have been a good girl this year!

We went for lunch at the Woolshed at the Docklands, and then went to the Groove Train in Harbour Town to meet up with friends for a drink.

And then on to play 'Glow Golf'!  It's mini golf in the dark with glow in the dark balls and clubs, and back drops with scenes from around Australia!  It was a really fun afternoon, and a really lovely birthday altogether!

Fun in the sun!

Mum and dad were lucky with the weather for the last few weeks of their holiday, so we were able to make the most of being out and about.

And for their last night, a bbq at Mark and Emma's:

Silly face time!

So it has been lovely to spend so much time with mum and dad, and we are very lucky that both our parents will travel to the other side of the world to see us, but it's so sad to say goodbye.

Thank you so much mum and dad for celebrating Christmas and New Year with us - miss you both xxxx
