Wilson's Prom with the Perrys

This weekend Darren and I have had a weekend away at Wilson's Promontory National Park with mum, dad, Mark and family.  Wilson's Prom is the southernmost tip of mainland Australia, with spectacular scenery of huge granite mountains, open forest, rainforest, sweeping beaches and coastlines, on a small peninsula jutting into the wild seas of Bass Strait.  Unfortunately, I messed up the dates so only stayed one night of the two nights that we'd planned, but we had a wonderful time and were lucky enough to see koalas, kangaroos, emus, wombats, echidnas and many beautiful birds.  The place that Mark and Emma had booked to stay was perfect with lots of land and views of the sea from the huge decking area - it even had a bar!

The afternoon that we arrived, we walked through banksia and stringybark woodland to Millers Landing.  Located on the southern coast of Corner Inlet, the Landing protects the southernmost stand of mangroves in the world.

It was a humid afternoon, and we'd walked up an appetite for a bbq in the evening....

The next morning the kids worked the bar for grandad Jim....

.....before heading off to make the most of our last day.

First stop, Norman Beach:

Next stop, Squeaky Beach,  which has rounded quartz sand that ‘squeaks’ when you walk on it!

Making the beach squeak!

Great rocks to climb and hide between!

And to finish off the day, a walk to Picnic Bay, with beautiful scenery along the way:

And then it was time for Darren and I to head back to Melbourne, and leave the others to enjoy their last night at the prom - early start for Darren the next morning to fly to Sydney with work!

They're back!

Mum and dad are back in Oz and it was lovely for Mark and I to be able to pick them up from the airport again.  I think they were tired but happy to be here!

As I'm not working at the moment, it's lovely to be able to see mum and dad during the day while they are staying with Mark, Emma, Mabel and Kieran.

I think they like our new place in Hampton - here they are looking quite at home with fish and chips and a bottle of red on our roof terrace on a lovely sunny afternoon....

We took a bus to the Mornington Peninsula and had a lovely afternoon lunching by the pier at Mornington.
